Mountnessing Councillor Darryl Sankey comments on Recent Traveller Incursion

11 Jun 2025

Residents may be aware of a traveller incursion in Mountnessing over the weekend.

The local Village Council, Essex Police, and staff and members of Brentwood Borough Council acted swiftly to resolve the situation yesterday morning.

Essex Police has issued a statutory notice to quit, and the travellers have been escorted from the premises.

The Village Council acted swiftly in collaboration with Essex Police, Brentwood Borough Council, the Essex County Travellers Unit staff, and other relevant parties. These agencies supported the Village Council as landowners and assisted in facilitating a necessary clean-up. The Village Council will evaluate property damage and potential repairs.

Councillor Sankey said: "I'm grateful to Mountnessing Village Council for raising this with me promptly, and to the Police for their swift action."
