Brentwood North's Liberal Democrat councillors continue to express their concerns about proposed housing developments. Despite objections being raised by ward councillors the Conservative led council has kept proposed developments for hundreds of houses on sites adjacent to Doddinghurst Road, including Green Belt land and the Council's own car park facility on William Hunter Way.

On top of this Tesco is also looking to sell off land currently used by Hopefield Animal sanctuary. This could potentially lead to a further 400 houses with access on to the Doddinghurst Road.

Cllr Philip Mynott said:

"Whilst recognising the need for affordable housing we believe that it will provide little, if indeed any, genuinely affordable housing for people on average incomes. We also still have significant concerns about the impact on already heavily congested roads into Brentwood along with infrastructure pressures."
