Liberal Democrats mark Remembrance Week with civic ceremony
The Deputy Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Nicky Cuthbert (LD - Shenfield), presided over a solemn civic ceremony recently, at the Town Hall, Brentwood, in honour of forthcoming Remembrance Day proceedings.
She honoured those from the Borough who served with a flag-raising event attended by fellow Councillors from all parties and Council staff, as well as representatives of the Reserve Forces, Cadets, and the Royal British Legion.
Councillor Cuthbert spoke, with other readings given by those present.
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Barry Aspinell, was present as was the Deputy Leader, Councillor Vicky Davies.
The Remembrance Day flag was hoisted, accompanied by a two-minute silence.
We gathered to remember and reflect. Their presence honoured the memory of the brave souls who gave everything for our freedom.
The event follows the launch of the 2025 Poppy Appeal launched by the Royal British Legion with the support of the Mayor, the Right Worshipful Councillor Jay Laplain (LD - Warley).
Brentwood Borough Council will mark Remembrance Day with the traditional parade this Sunday. Lest we forget.
