Lib Dems retain County Seats with hugely increased majorities

County Cllrs Barry Aspinell and David Kendall have beaten the Conservatives firmly into second place at the Essex County Elections.

Cllr Aspinell won Brentwood North with 1842 votes - 673 votes ahead of the Tory - and with 43.3% of the vote.

Cllr Kendall won Brentwood South with 1626 votes - 509 votes ahead of the Tory - and with 38.9% of the votee.

In 2009, their majorities were 301 and 7 respectively.

In Brentwood Hutton and Brentwood Rural, the first an second spots went to the Conservatives an UKIP with our candidates Lisa Barrett and John Newberry polling well from a very short campaign.
