Answers have been demanded from Essex County Council regarding the gridlock in Brentwood along the A128 from the roadworks that started this week.

Cllr Kendall said:

"These roadworks are planned for seven months but we simply cannot have hour-long delays until August - the effects on Brentwood's economy and the problems it will create for our residents are just too severe.

"I have had calls from residents and Ingrave Parish Cllr David Harman to tell me that it has been gridlocked for most of the day with some people taking over an hour and twenty minutes to do what would normally be a 15 minute journey. I am very concerned that if this project does continue for the full seven months then the economic effects on Brentwood could be very damaging with people choosing to do their shopping and spend their leisure time elsewhere.

"I have demanded to be told what planning that has gone into this whole project and that no stone will be left unturned to ensure that those travelling in this area are inconvenienced as little as possible.
