Brentwood West's Cllr Karen Chilvers is leading residents in a campaign against further development at the already over-crowded Rollason Way/St James Road area after receiving news that another 71 flats in St James Road after 53 were agreed by the Conservative administration just last month, in addition to the 350 already there or being built.

Karen said:

"The people who live in this area have just had enough and so have I. There is literally nowhere to park now with less than one parking space per property and this development only plans to have 40 spaces for the 71 flats, with half of them two-bedroom properties. It is a major problem leading to clamping being introduced in some areas.

"People feel over-crowded and crammed in and they are just dumbfounded to hear that another 71 are proposed and, this time, in a seven-storey building that will tower over neighbouring Brunel House.

"This development will have an effect on all of the surrounding area and I hope local residents will come together to oppose what is planned."

"A petition has been launched to oppose any more development in the area."
